This goes without saying: Moms are the #realdeal. It’s not just some casual platitude, but a fact of life. They’re our unsung heroes, the glue that holds us together—putting family first ahead of themselves and being that perpetual source of strength and support throughout life’s ups and downs.
TBH, they’re these amazing and selfless human beings that we don’t deserve sometimes. So, it’s always a pleasure to give back to them at every chance we get and while we can—even just a fraction of the incredible love and care they provide us with 24/7.
But while we may not be able to repay our #supermoms in this lifetime, we think we can all agree that a thoughtful present goes a long way and can definitely get us started. Most of us fall back on the classics when it’s time to shop for Mother’s Day gifts—a bouquet of fresh blooms, a card, or a perfume. Not that there’s anything wrong about those options, but, this year, we’ve come up with a heartfelt way to give back.

On the days leading up to Mother’s Day, we asked our readers to tell us why their moms are the #RealDeal on our official Facebook page to get a chance to win two brand new Infinix Hot 20 Play smartphones and two Ikea Gift Cards worth P2,000 each.
Aside from commenting why their moms are the #RealDeal, our readers also had to post a photo of them and their mom taken at an SM mall plus a link of the deal from the SM Deals website that they’d love to gift their #supermom with.
A ton of gratitude-filled comments poured in—all in awe of how amazing their moms are and how they deserve the best of the best. Out of all the warm and profound stories, we’ve picked four that really stood out.
Ikea gift card winners
Rachiell Ann’s honored and glad to have her mom by their side, always encouraging her to live her dream. “She always makes sure her family is taken care of in every way, shape, and form. I’ve always felt that she has my back, and that’s very valuable to me. No cape, no super powers, but a hero. She’s my inspiration.”
Tirz Tristan Tyler Tadeja, on the other hand, nominated his partner of 10 years and mom of his kids, Janina Marbella, who went all out and single-handedly put their kids out of harm’s way when Typhoon Ulysses struck in 2020 and flooded their home in Rodriguez, Rizal. “Nasa trabaho ako nang mga oras na iyon. Nabuhat niya ang dalawa naming anak, ‘yung aso namin, at nakadala pa siya ng konting gamit. Hindi ko lubos maisip ang kanyang ginawa dahil ayon sa kanyang kuwento, sobrang bilis ng pangyayari na biglaang tumaas ang tubig at nalunod ang aming bahay,” Tirz writes.
He adds, “Wala man kaming naisalba na gamit, thankful ako dahil walang nasaktan sa pamilya ko. Thankful ako sa aking superwoman sa kanyang lakas ng loob at lakas ng katawan.”

Ynah Niro’s proud of her mom’s handwork and dedication despite life’s adversities, commending how she became a street food vendor and a scrap collector alongside her dad to provide for the family.
Ynah reveals, “My mother is the #realdeal, my ultimate source of inspiration because of her unconditional love and immense sacrifices for our family. Despite the people who laughed at her and called her job dirty, her hands, even when they were covered in dirt, were dignified to me. The scent of her hard work, even though some said it smelled like the sun, represented victory to me. Her job provided for me and even gave me the opportunity to earn a degree.” Ynah says she’s forever grateful for this.
Folmaureen M. Acosta admits she’s not that expressive to her mom for all the special things she does, but pours her heart out in her entry. “I love you for the way you listen and for your support throughout the years, for teaching me the meaning of compassion, and for sharing in my triumphs and tears.
And if, at times, I may have seemed ungrateful, I want to say that nothing you have done has been forgotten. I wish I could tell you how much you mean to me, but there are no words to describe how much I admire you. I love you, mom.”
