Here’s Where You Can Watch Oscar-winning Films Starring Michelle Yeoh and Brendan Fraser Starting March 15

The 2023 Oscars have come and gone. Luckily, the 95th iteration of Hollywood’s biggest night was devoid of any drama—no theatrics or infamous slaps, just big moments and historic wins for the global filmmaking industry. It was a fitting end to the awards season, a studied return to the dignified and prestigious form of the Academy Awards. *cue sighs of relief*

Historic win

“Everything Everywhere All At Once” (EEAAO) dominated the ceremony, bagging seven of the 11 awards it was nominated for including Best Picture and Best Directing for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

A24, the indie studio who created and pushed the zany adventure of a Chinese-American laundromat owner stuck in a failing marriage while grappling to connect with her daughter Joy and struggling with an IRS audit and inter-dimensional attackers, also nabbed all four major acting honors—three from EEAAO and one by “The Whale,” which starred the returning Brendan Fraser.

EEAAO’s Michelle Yeoh also became the first Asian woman to win best actress (woohoo!). This came after the 60-year-old’s long and flourishing career in martial arts and hit action movies like “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” and “Yes, Madam.”

While accepting her statuette, Yeoh said in her speech, “Ladies, don’t ever let anyone tell you that you are past your prime.” She added, “For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities.”

A night of comebacks

Vietnamese Ke Huy Quan, a former child star who appeared with Harrison Ford in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and Sean Astin in “The Goonies,” won best supporting actor for playing Yeoh’s husband. He had given up on acting in recent years, citing lack of opportunities, but ended up victorious on Hollywood’s biggest stage.

Brendan Fraser also completed his silver screen comeback with a best actor award for portraying a morbidly obese professor trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter in “The Whale.” Known for his work for “The Mummy,” he shied away from the spotlight for almost a decade due to health and personal struggles, but made a remarkable resurgence pre-Oscars. Fraser underwent a drastic transformation for the film, which also snagged best makeup and hairstyling.
